Juniors at Humboldt High School aspire to be doctors, lawyers, military veterans and more.

The class of 2027 received a survey, with 19 recording responses. Students each detailed their future plans.

“We look at their academics while in high school as well to determine what course would best align with their goals in the future,” said Nicole Desmarteau, counselor at HHS. “The most important thing is to have an action plan with tangible steps to complete.

The class has an abundance of diversity with 57% saying they aim to attend four-year universities, 26% selecting to attend community college and one student indicating they wish to enlist with the U.S. Army.

“I am currently taking classes in high school that will better help me with what I want to pursue in life,” Karoline Covey, jr., said. “I am also currently looking at colleges that I think would be the best fit for me and what my future potentially holds.”

Juniors at Humboldt High School are taking action to prepare themselves for their future by taking classes that align with their career path, scoring internships, working toward scholarships and working with counselor Nicole Desmarteau and CTE coordinator Kim Isbell.

“Live in the moment but start planning for the future because it will be here before you know it,” Desmarteau said. “To know this time in high school is fleeting, even if it feels like it takes forever to pass.”
